Accused Hanford child sex abuser escaped to Bolivia; arrested in Miami

The Hanford Police Department announced the arrest of a man they say was wanted for rape and sexual abuse of a child.

Hanford police were investigating a report in October of 2019 from a 15-year-old girl who said she had been sexually assaulted and raped by her stepfather Alvaro Lino.

They say the sexual abuse took place over a period of five months.

The girl said she was afraid to come forward because of threats Lino made to her.

When confronted by family members Lino fled the United States to the country of Bolivia.

An arrest warrant was put out for Lino.

More than a year later, Lino returned to the United States on December 21, 2020, flying into Miami International Airport.

He was taken into custody on the warrant issued in Kings County and booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail.

Investigators with the Hanford Police Department flew to Miami and brought Lino back to Hanford.

38-year-old Alvaro Zuniga Lino was booked into the Kings County Jail on February 10 and his bail was set at $325,000.
