Morning Briefing: Marlins to Allow 20% Capacity at Marlins Park in 2021

Per Mike Puma of the New York Post, prior to his signing to return to Seattle, the Mets’ offer to James Paxton was $6 million. He received $8.5 million guaranteed from the Mariners. Incentives could take it to $10 million.

Per Ken Rosenthal of MLB on FOX, free-agent outfielder Kevin Pillar is in an agreement with the Mets on a one-year deal. Anthony DiComo and Jon Heyman were the first with the report. Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Kevin Pillar gets a guaranteed $5 million for one year from the Mets, per source. As Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported, it can also be a two-year deal worth as much as $10 million.

Per the New York Mets, the Mets Foundation donated $15,000 to the Treasure Coast Food Bank in St. Lucie County to purchase food that Mets’ President Sandy Alderson and Brandon Nimmo helped distribute to families in need at Clover Park. A video posted by the Mets on Twitter recaps the food drive and the impact it had on the community.

Per Ken Rosenthal, former New York Met and free-agent catcher Robinson Chirinos is in agreement with the New York Yankees on a minor league deal, per sources telling The Athletic.

The deal has potential to grow to three years, $7.65 million if Sawamura hits every performance bonus and escalator. There is also an option described as conditional and complex.

Per Jon Heyman of MLB Network, left-handed relief pitcher Adam Conley has agreed to a deal with the Rakuten Eagles. Craig Mish of Sports Grid was the first on the report.

Per Hector Gomez, MLB Insider and Sports Journalist of De Banica, right-handed pitcher Bartolo Colon has reached a one-year deal with Acereros de Monclovo in Liga Mexicana, per Roberto Espinoza.

Per Dennis Lin of The Athletic, Keone Kela and the San Diego Padres are in an agreement on a Major League deal, pending a physical.

Per Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic, the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a one-year deal with right-handed pitcher Matt Shoemaker, sources confirm. Jeff Passan of ESPN was first to report the deal.
