Victim Speaks After Man Exposes Himself at Lauderhill Bank

A South Florida mother recalled how scared she felt the night a man exposed himself to her and her daughter and began masturbating while they were at work.

“I feel embarrassed,” Elia Ayala said. “I feel like nervous. I don’t know how to react in that moment.”

On Jan. 20 at around 8:45 p.m., Ayala and her 15-year-old daughter were cleaning the inside of TD Bank on West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderhill. Police say that’s when a man walked in pretending to use the ATM.

Within seconds, Ayala says he pulled down his pants and started masturbating while staring at her and her daughter.

“I just turned around, and I don’t know what to do,” the mother said. “I felt my legs shaking.”

Ayala says her daughter was so upset, she threw up then called 911.

“The females were scared at that point,” said Lieutenant Mike Santiago with Lauderhill Police Department.

Santiago says Ayala and her daughter were protected by the glass wall between the ATM and the rest of the bank.

“They were definitely in fear although there was a glass partition there,” Santiago said. “They couldn’t believe what they were actually experiencing at the time.”

The disturbing encounter went on for about two minutes.

The suspect is approximately 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds and has a full beard, police said. He was using a rose gold iPhone 12.

“Because he’s wearing a mask, it’s very difficult for us to identify him,” Santiago said.

Months later, Ayala is still shaken so much that she hasn’t gone back.

“I don’t want to be there no more. No,” Ayala said.

NBC 6 reached out to TD Bank for a statement but has not received a response.

Anyone with more information should call the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 (TIPS).
