2 teens injured, 1 dead in drive-by shooting in SW Miami-Dade

Two teens were injured and another killed in a drive-by shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the shooting in the area of Southwest 222nd Street and 115th Avenue in the Goulds neighborhood, just after 8:30 p.m., Wednesday.

“We still haven’t been able to determine the relationship among the three and we’re still trying to gather information into what happened prior to, exactly what were they doing,” said Miami-Dade Police Det. Alvaro Zabaleta.

People who appeared to be loved ones gathered at the scene consoling each other after hearing the news.

“Unfortunately, a 17-year-old lost his life here on the scene,” Zabaleta said.

The body of the teenager was removed from the crime scene, Thursday morning.

Two 16-year-old boys were airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the arm or leg.

“This gun violence is affecting our juveniles and here we have another example,” Zabaleta said. “It’s unfortunate, that another juvenile loses their life and another two are at the hospital. We’re urging the community to come together with the police department on this investigation and let’s see if we can identify these individuals who, obviously, are considered armed and dangerous.”

Police are investigating the shooting.
