Amazon driver held at gunpoint in Southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI – A man is behind bars for taking a delivery truck.

Police arrested 37-year-old Lee Marven Garza-Vidales who, they said, robbed an Amazon delivery van before dumping the van a few blocks away in Southwest Miami-Dade.

It happened just after 1 p.m. Friday near Southwest 142nd Court and 284th Street.

According to investigators, the suspect approached the Amazon driver with his hand concealed by a cloth and pointed it at the victim as if he had a firearm.

The suspect also stole the driver’s phone and wallet.

Police observed the vehicle and subject matching the descriptions and attempted to conduct a traffic stop as it sped away from them. 

The subject abandoned the vehicle and a perimeter was established.

A short time later, the subject was taken into custody.

The weapon was a multi-purpose tool with an extended cutting blade attached to an object to look like a gun wrapped in the same piece of cloth was recovered.

Garza-Vidales was charged with armed robbery and carjacking.

The driver was not injured and the property, to include the contents of the delivery truck, were recovered.
