Palm Beach has a new record — $19.5 million — for a condominium asking price.
And the condo in question isn’t even finished yet.
But it has a few features that could justify the price tag, according to those involved with its development and sales effort.
For starters, it’s on the upper floors of the iconic Tiffany Building, above the famous jewelry store and smack in the middle of the action on Worth Avenue. And it includes a recently completed third-level rooftop terrace with a glass-enclosed room and a swimming pool.
The floorplan was designed with five bedrooms and about 13,000 square feet of living space, inside and out. About 9,876 of that space would be under air conditioning.
The in-the-works condo at 259 Worth Ave. made its debut in the local multiple listing service about a year ago at a lower price of $17.5 million, which also set a condo asking record. At the time, co-listing agent Gary Pohrer of Douglas Elliman Real Estate said it was being marketed at that price as a concrete shell. The buyer would complete the interior work as a custom project, he said.
The condo was taken off the market last spring after the coronavirus pandemic began to escalate, Pohrer said this week. Elliman’s John Reynolds is the co-listing agent.
The condo re-entered the MLS this week with its higher price.
In the past year, structural work has progressed, although the interiors remain unfinished, co-developer John C. Kean of Kean Development Co. said this week.
