Gold mining executive buys Miami Beach mansion for $10M

Ari B. Sussman, the former CEO of Toronto-based Continental Gold, and wife Laurel Sussman purchased a mansion on Sunset Islands in Miami Beach for $10.2 million.

The 2201 Sunset Trust, with attorney Mark Bryn as trustee, sold the 6,673-square-foot home at 2201 Sunset Drive to the Sussmans. The price equated to $1,529 per square foot.

Douglas Elliman’s Dina Goldentayer, who brokered the sale, said the home sold for the full asking price.

In fact, the deal was a flip, and a quite profitable one. The home last traded for $8.14 million in November, when it was sold by restaurant/nightclub owner David S. Grutman.

The home was built on the waterfront site of 23,237 square feet in 1937, but expanded in 1987. It has five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a pool, a dock, and a fitness room.

This continues the strong demand and rising prices for waterfront home on Sunset Islands over the past year.

Continental Gold owns a gold mine in Colombia. Ari Sussman was CEO of the company until it was sold to Zijin Mining in March 2020 for about $1 billion.
