Miami Music Week put at risk because of new curfew law

Clubs, parties, and events are being canceled at Miami Beach as the City of Miami Beach Issues State of Emergency and Curfew. The decision came after two shootings in 48 hours. The measure forced several clubs like STORY Miami to cancel this week’s program and events, putting Miami Music Week at risk as well.

The curfew will be in effect from Thursday to Monday and will last from midnight to 6:00 a.m. each night. Businesses in the area will close, and restaurants will only accept orders for delivery after that time. Essential services will continue to operate normally, and residents will be able to leave and return to their homes.

It is horribly sad that we’re standing here for the cowardly acts of random people – City Manager Alina Hudak

The application of the state of emergency happened also last year after spring break partying turned to chaos.

No community, no police force, should have to suffer through this. You know I’m really tired of it, frankly, I’d love to get rid of spring break. I wish the spring breakers would go somewhere else. – Mayor Dan Gelber

This measure has forced STORY Miami to cancel all the shows planned for this week. Tickets will be fully refunded but there’s no indication about the chance to change the location for the events. The massive Future Rave party featuring MORTEN b2b David Guetta is one of the events that has been canceled.

At the moment the curfew is imposed on the Miami Beach area; other events in DowntownWynwood, and other Miami zone are not affected.
