Netflix celebrating Tiger King’s anniversary with special musical starring Drag Race stars

Netflix’s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is now a year old, despite feeling like it premiered a LOT longer ago.

Arriving just as the world went into its first lockdown at the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Netflix docu-series provided a perfect talking point when we all thought we’d be stuck indoors for a few weeks at most.

Now, to celebrate the show’s anniversary – and to give viewers something to distract themselves from still being stuck indoors – Netflix is launching an official TikTok Tiger King musical, starring some of the icons from RuPaul’s Drag Race herstory.

Season 8 runner-up Kim Chi will play Carole Baskin, season 4’s Willam will play Joe Exotic, while season 12’s Miss Congeniality Heidi N Closet will play a tiger. Special guests will also join in on the fun, but Netflix is keeping the surprise for now.

We also don’t know whether the musical will feature original songs or songs from Joe Exotic’s extensive back catalogue of questionable country music.

The musical will be performed live on TikTok on Sunday, March 28. We can’t wait.

Meanwhile, a second season of Tiger King hasn’t been confirmed but there are plenty of rumours that it will go ahead. Carole Baskin has said that she won’t be involved in any more episodes, while we at Digital Spy aren’t sure it should really happen in the first place.
