A man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Miami Township on Saturday.

The crash took place around 6:45 p.m. on I-275 near Wards Corner Road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Richard Wheeler, 51, was riding his motorcycle when he veered off the left side of the road as he was exiting the highway.

Wheeler was thrown from his motorcycle and hit a traffic sign, police said.

He was taken to Bethesda North Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Wheeler was not wearing a motorcycle helmet or protective gear at the time of the crash, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol-Batavia Post.
