‘This relationship is over’: Break-up message broadcast on JumboTron during baseball game

One man took a break-up text to a whole new level.

He had his departing words for his girlfriend projected on a JumboTron during a baseball game in Ohio and now, it’s gone viral.

“Alyssa, this relationship is OVER. [Signed] Tim,” the message read.

Jack Haines, the coordinator of creative services for the Akron RubberDucks Baseball Club, said the JumboTron usually displays messages for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations.

It was the first time Haines saw a break-up message submitted.

“Going through the list, going through the list then, what the heck? Like, do a double-take as I’m typing it in,” Haines told WOIO.

Haines also told the station the announcer wasn’t aware of the break-up message until he read it to the crowd.

“When that happened, the crowd went pretty crazy,” Haines said. “They were pretty loud, and from up in the press box, it’s hard to hear some of the sounds, and we heard it for sure.”

The whole situation spread amongst stadium staff and went viral from there.

“I got the news from my wife. She was here at the game,” said Louis Willmon-Holland, the culinary operations manager for the Akron RubberDucks. “She sent it to me in a picture. I thought it was hilarious, but I also thought, that’s the worst thing somebody can do to you.”

Haines said the sponsor of the stadium messages is trying to track down the couple and see if they’ll ever get back together.

“Maybe they made up, maybe Alyssa wants to get back at him, who knows, we’ll see,” Haines said.
